Lahore Lions win a last-ball thriller in the Demo Cup final
By the Demo News sports desk · 5 min read
In a final that went to the very last delivery, the Lahore Lions chased down 186 against the Karachi Kites, sealing the Demo Cup with a boundary through cover. The crowd of 40,000 had barely sat down after the strategic time-out when the match turned.
The Kites had looked in control after a blistering opening stand, but a run of three wickets in two overs from the Lions' spinners slowed the scoring to a crawl.
Needing 14 from the final over, the Lions' captain took the game deep, finding the rope twice before the winning hit. “We never stopped believing,” the captain said afterwards.
The Kites will take heart from a season in which they topped the table, and their young fast bowler finished as the tournament's leading wicket-taker.
